    The Food Fraud Audit Guide MOOC (free, massive open online course) is open. The live lectures will be on July 6 and July 13. The lectures are recorded for on-demand viewing.

    • Audit Requirements – details vary by regulation or standard:
      1. Conduct a Food Fraud Vulnerability Assessment (FFVA) for ALL types of fraud and ALL products
      2. Provide documented proof of the FFVA
      3. Implement a Food Fraud Prevention Strategy (FFPS) for the vulnerabilities, risks or hazards identified
      4. Provide documented proof of the FFVA
      5. Confirm you cover ALL types of fraud, including adulterant-substances, counterfeits, stolen goods, diversion/ gray market, mislabeling, etc.
      6. Confirm you cover ALL products, including raw materials to finished goods

    For GFSI, FSMA, Sarbanes-Oxley or other requirements, addressing Food Fraud is not optional.  Even if you have a low ‘fraud opportunity’ you must have a written document to support your claim. To not formally address Food Fraud could lead to a recall and could be a federal crime for your company… or YOU.
